Program Description
Overview
The “ wE-rISE Program” is a community empowerment initiative by DOSO Safespace designed to uplift individuals who are facing life challenges or striving to realize their potential but lack access to visibility, resources, or support. The program creates a bridge between people in need and the wider community by offering airtime, advocacy, and connection to support systems that can help transform lives.
At its core, wE-rISE is about restoring dignity, amplifying unheard voices, and opening pathways to opportunity.
Who the Program Serves
The wE-rISE Program supports individuals from diverse backgrounds, including:
- Students who wish to continue their education but face financial or material challenges
- Individuals who are sick or in urgent need of assistance and community support
- Survivors of gender-based violence, seeking safe pathways to support, healing, and stability
- Small business owners and entrepreneurs with innovative ideas but limited access to exposure or resources
- Individuals with talent, creativity, or strong ideas who need encouragement, mentorship, or connections to move forward
Participation is open to individuals who demonstrate genuine need, potential, or a desire to improve their circumstances.
How the Program Works
- Application & Nomination
Individuals may apply for the wE-rISE Program directly through an online form or be nominated by a community member, school, organization, or trusted advocate. - Review & Assessment
Submissions are reviewed by the DOSO Safespace team to understand the individual’s needs, goals, and the type of support required. For sensitive cases, especially those involving gender-based violence, strict confidentiality and safeguarding procedures are followed. - Airtime & Visibility
Selected participants are given airtime through DOSO Safespace platforms such as social media, media partnerships, and community outreach channels. This exposure helps raise awareness, mobilize support, and connect participants with individuals or organizations willing to assist. - Connection to Support & Resources
Depending on the case, participants may be connected to:
- Educational support and mentorship
- Community services and referrals
- Business guidance and mentorship
- Health or psychosocial support partners
- Emergency or material assistance (where available)
- Educational support and mentorship
- Follow-Up & Learning
DOSO Safespace conducts follow-ups to understand outcomes, provide encouragement, and learn from each case to improve future programming.
